laura and i made an abundance of these around valentine's day.
they made us so happy that day, but mine have been stuffed in a drawer ever since. i ran across them while i was digging around in my rarely used drawers and decided i needed one in my line of vision so i can be happy all the time. or...at the very least..increase my chances.

ive had several "research days" at work lately. these consist of me browsing design blogs and websites..and oftentimes..flikr.
ive been noticing a lot of monochromatic photography and it kind of makes my heart beat a little faster.
then i came home and noticed this white necklace hanging on this white hook against this white wall. so i took my photo o' the day.
it doesnt quite compare to the photos ive seen in my research. and by quite..i mean...it doesnt at all. i just mainly thought it was interesting that i started liking a trend in photography and came home and noticed that which has probably been there for ages considering i havent worn that necklace in years. im learning to see things i didnt see before! isnt that part of what the project is all about? point for me. and two points for monochromatic images.

this was my senior exit review poster in college.

my brother and his wife moved out of the country for 1-2 years so we inherited their dogs. woo hooo!

i have had this stapler in my car for well over a year.
its techinically stolen property. mistaken stolen property.
a co-worker used to put office supplies in my purse and this one snuck in on a friday. it made my purse pretty heavy so i put it in the glove box for safe keeping and have forgotten to take it back inside everyday since.

today celebrates sams 24th year of existence, as his roommate put it.
i was talking to sam at midnite on his birthday. and i asked him if he was excited. and he said he was disappointed because he wished confetti would have flown out of nowhere (dont be sad for him too long. his roommates came in with streamers shortly after).
SOO...i made sam a little bag o' confetti to have on hand for the following year. this was the card i forgot to put on it and still havent given him. oops :/

this day was not a very good one for me. when i have a day like that one, i usually just kind of walk around. and go to rooms or places in the house im not in often. so i went into my brothers old room and this was on the nightstand.
its a dumb little daily quote thing i had in elementary school, i think. of course, since no one is in my brothers room hardly, it wasnt on the right day. but i decided to flip through and see what the days quote was.
uplifting.
but it did make me laugh. so i guess it wins.

i talked to someone from hs today and it made me want to look at my yearbooks and read the things that people i barely remember, if at all, wrote.
two things stuck out so i am taking two pictures today:
i was destined to be in love with the twilight books. the first entry starts out "hello you blood sucking vampire!" he called me that because i didnt like to be outside and was kind of mean to him. but if you read the rest of his note, he wasnt that nice to me either!

my parents got me this music box either before i was born or shortly after. it doesnt play the music very well anymore..its actually pretty creepy when you wind it up. but...lucy loves it just like i did.

ok. so. i got over it and then got sad that i was so close to updating. so..i retook what i could. plus..when i re-evaluated, i realized there were a couple that id put on facebook and several id emailed to myself from work.

ive been getting complaints. about my lack of updates.
so tonite i decided to sit down and update through may. i was very excited. id forgotten about some of the pictures id taken.
i sat down to upload, edit, arrange, and post may's pictures. and after i had uploaded, edited, and arranged the images, i did a little spring cleaning of iphoto before i posted.
pretty bad call since i deleted my photos.
luckily..i have the pictures i took written down on a calendar because i forget which ones belong to which day when i dont post daily. so...i can re-create them. is that cheating my resolution? probably. oh well. im going to.
but...im pretty mad right now. so..im going to step away from my camera and the computer for a bit. hopefully i can re-create the pictures this week sometime and have them up next week.

ive been doing some late spring cleaning this week.
i came across this little locket that my parents gave me when i was born and decided it was time i wear it.

lucy got new shoes! i kind of cheated...and put two images together and called them one.
BUT. they're both cute. the funny thing is...i was going to buy her pink converse but i acted out of character and went with the pumas instead.
the very next day..my oldest friend, haydee [we met in 5th grade, bonded over alanis morissette and havent missed a beat since.], brought me some of her nieces old clothes. in the bag were those pink converse! the right size and everything. funny how things work out sometimes!

something that makes my day, is when i see people breaking stereotypes. or my stereotypes, at least. reminding me that there are exceptions to the so called rules.
while at a stop light on my way home from work, i saw a little girl...probably 3rd grade...being walked home by what i assume was her big brother..probably 16 or 17. he had on baggy jeans...the kind that required him to stand and walk with his legs more than shoulder length apart or they would end up around his ankles..an oversized, flat billed baseball cap, backwards...chains...you get the picture.
either way..not only was he walking her home. he was carrying, on his shoulder, her tiny, brightly colored backpack, covered in flowers and looking at her drawings from the day. giving her high fives, laughing with her, running with her..completely engaged and interested in her. as if picking her up and walking her home were not something to check off his list, but something he actually wanted to be doing.
maybe its just me, and maybe im just showing my true, ugly colors and being judgemental. but. if im honest. the more 'normal' picture in my head for that scenario..something i probably wouldnt have even thought twice about, was if he was texting or on the phone, just getting her home. not even really paying attention to her. aside from what he was wearing...hes a 16 year old taking his little sister home from school. how interesting could that be for him? from what i saw, very interesting.
i didnt want to be a creeper so i just came home and took a picture of my backpack to remember him carrying hers.

j and i are obsessed with gossip girl [shes mostly about chuck bass] so i figured his smiling duck face would make her morning.
and i wasnt sure who shelley would like to see paperclipped to her cube so i just went with the prettiest second google search for "hot guy" the first..was NSFW. who knew such an open ended search would land you in images like that? lesson learned.

those lovely bones are lucys miniature hips!! perfectly in line, i might add.
she had to wear a little harness when she was very small...her right hip was dislocated. so..today was her last follow up. shes free from the orthopedic dr! not that he wasnt a nice man...but, im very glad we dont have to go back.

this is on lucys dresser directly opposite her bed so she can make a wish every morning!

im not the biggest fan of food photography..but this had to be my picture today.
its not often i get this sandwich.
its from a very girly cafe. we usually only go there if someone is having a baby. or returns to work after having a baby. anything you would see decorating your grandmas house, i guarantee this place has it too. they know how to make sandwiches though. thats for sure.
this one is called 'some like it hot'. i wont tell you the ingredients. that will only give you a foothold to place judgment on this delicious meal. just take my word for it...this sandwich is something you will think about for days.
